Shelf Life

Shelf Life emerged from the intense and complex relationship between the artist Kori Koolman and a family she encountered on a New York subway. Immersing herself in the family's life, Koolman spent significant time in their small one-room apartment and eventually became part of their daily routine. Through her presence, she aimed to examine and intervene in their family rituals. She likened herself to an implant, observing and interpreting the process by which the family, like a body encountering a foreign object, either accepted or rejected her presence.
