The Odds of Being Born
Project Description
live performance | 2018
The Odds of Being Born is a live performance that explores a single scene featuring a family of four characters in a melodramatic dinner setting. A blonde woman eats rice off the belly of an older man lying supine on the table before her. She spits out the rice, repeating the action over and over again. Meanwhile, the other two characters—a man and a woman—sit motionless at opposite ends of the table, silently staring at each other. The piece draws inspiration from the practices and methods of Butoh.
